Why

Last year, senior leadership at UCSB sponsored a project to establish a campus-wide Power BI reporting platform to replace the current Power BI platform.

The campus-wide Power BI reporting platform will significantly reduce cost, minimize administrative overhead, and share common compliance standards.

The project team will be migrating the existing Power BI applications to the campus tenant. The functionality of the Power BI applications will not change, however there will be some changes to the login.

When 

Between April and June 2021 the project team will be migrating all Power BI apps to the new tenant. You will receive detailed instructions and specific dates before your Power BI application(s) are migrated.

What is Changing

For Power BI Users

  • After the migration you will login with your new username <NetId>@ucsb.edu and NetID password.
    • Please notice that the login no longer uses the "my" in the user name. 

  • Power BI bookmarks or favorites will need to be updated after you begin using your new login.

  • If you have access to more than one Power BI application you will continue to use your existing login <NetId>@my.ucsb.edu for those applications until you are notified.

For Power BI Developers

What is not Changing

  • Continue to use https://app.powerbi.com to login to Power BI. 
  • Your Power BI reports and dashboards will not change as a result of this change.
