UCSB operational data stores generate thousands of transactions, including but not limited to student course work, registration, special programs, financial aid, housing, human resources, library, budget and finance.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid Data maintains details on disbursements, awards , applications, work study and needs. The data can be combine with student data using the student perm, quarter and year.

Registration

Registration contains data pertinent a given student for a given quarter. Details include, courses, major, academic status.

Student Data

Once an applicant files a commit to register and pays the fee, a record is entered as a student and assigned a unique student ID called a perm number. Perm number, netid and campus id are the primary identifiers for a student. The campus id will never change while netid and perm may change but that is rare. Student data contains information originating from the student's application such as name and demographic data and if the student began as a freshman, transfer, or graduate student.
